5 Foods Your V*gina Wants You to Eat
“An apple a day keeps the doctor away!” That’s what they say at least. Some fruits and foods have some specific effects and advantages to the human body and certain specific parts, like the vagina.
If the bagina could talk, she would probably request for a certain type of food or snack. Sadly, not everybody focuses on what beverage or food can help you have a healthier life below the belt. These foods have also been proven to ease discomforts like menstrual cramps. They also help keep away infections, and even spice things up a bit between the sheets.
Here are 10 foods that if you haven’t started consuming, you would want to include in your diet..
1 Apples
A study published in the Archives of Gynecology and Obstetrics found that women who ate apples more than once a day had higher levels of lubrication and sexual function compared to those who ate apples less than once a day. It is also interesting to know that apples contain phloridzin, a compound that mimics the female sex hormone, estradiol. What’s more, apples are loaded with polyphenols that help boost blood flow to vaginal tissue, which makes it easier to have orgasms.
2. Soy Milk, Tofu & Soy Products
Ample consumption of these types of foods can help the vagina in terms of easing dryness. Dryness can be caused by low levels of estrogen, by menopause, childbirth, and breastfeeding. These foods contain estrogen-mimicking plant compounds called isoflavins. They’re also hydrophilic, meaning they’re good at attracting more water to your tissues.

3. Yogurt
A healthy vagina has a lot of bacteria, both good and bad. The presence of good bacteria like lactobacillus helps your tissues maintain a healthy pH level. Yogurt is a probiotic (a microorganism introduced into the body for its beneficial qualities) food. It helps maintain the healthy balance of bacteria to promote a good pH to promote the healthy growth of good bacteria in the vagina.
4. Green Tea
Green tea contains something called catechins, this is a potent effective antimicrobial (an agent that kills microorganisam) that could help fight UTIs (Urinary tract infections). “By drinking green tea, catechins are passed through the urinary tract, decreasing bacteria and hence decreasing the risk of infection,” says ob-gyn Carolyn DeLucia, M.D., founder of VSPOT Medi Spa in New York.
5. Fish
Eating more fish during one’s menstrual period, can help to reduce cramping caused by the release of inflammatory compounds called prostaglandins, which help your uterus muscles contract and shed tissue. Studies suggest the omega-3 fatty acids in fish can help to boost anti-inflammatory compounds that may help ease this discomfort.
