Is Your Husband A Soccer Fan? How To Cope With One

By Dayo Richard

Most wives usually dread the football seasons, sports’ tournament and do not particularly look forward to them. Why? Well during this period, husbands seem to be more interested in watching their various sports shows and teams while wives are left to compete for attention.

This can be quite frustrating for wives who are looking forward to spending time and bonding with their husband on weekends.

Find useful tips on how to cope and deal with such a situation.

BE PATIENT

So your husband is watching the game but you want to talk. You notice that he is so much involved in the game, what do you do?

You can have a little chit chat here and there but if you are hoping to have a serious conversation while the game is going on you might end up disappointed. Unless the roof is on fire or junior has been suspended from school, you should consider waiting till the game is over to have that talk time with your husband.

BE SENSITIVE

The game ends and your husband’s team have lost and this put him in low mood. This is not the time for you to laugh and taunt him. Show some sympathy.

SUPPORT HIS TEAM

Now, I can hear someone screaming, “what?”!!! Well ladies, before you chop off my head, take a deep breath and consider this for a moment. They say if you cannot beat them, join them and this is a classic example of where this saying is applicable.

Think about it, what do you have to lose? Not much I guess, as this will give you the chance to spend quality time with your husband than just sitting on the sofa feeling bad.

Despite this looking and sounding like a bad situation here are smart ways to use your husband’s love for sport to your advantage:

GETTING YOUR ‘ME’ TIME

While he’s watching the game, you can catch up on various activities you have penciled down to do. It could be work related, studying for an exam or trying out a new recipe.

With your husband watching the game and your kids asleep or out playing, you now have a few hours of quality time to spend on yourself.

GETTING HIM TO DO ACTIVITIES YOU LIKE

You can talk to him about supporting activities that you also like and if he tries to object you can bring up the part of you supporting his team.
