Ex-wife of EgyptAir Hijacker Reveals Shocking Details About Their Marriage

Marina Paraschou, ex-wife of Seif Eldin Mustafa, the EgyptAir hijacker who diverted a flight to Cyprus, has dispelled claims that he is lovesick, saying she endured a ‘marriage of hell’ with him. They had reportedly met in 1983 when she was 18 and Mustafa was 26.

According to Mirror UK, Marina said while they were together, the 59-year-old was jobless, living off her father, addicted to drugs and regularly beat her and their children.

She said,

“Most of the media painted a picture of a romantic situation in which a man was trying to reach out to his estranged wife. But that couldn’t be further from the truth and they would have a different opinion if they knew what he was really like.

The seven years I was married to him was the darkest chapter in both mine and my family’s life. It was a marriage of hell with threats, beatings, torture and fear. He was a man who knew how to inflict fear and to create misery around him. He was unbalanced and a scary person.”

Mustafa was frequently kicked out of Cyprus because of trouble with the law and reportedly served four years in prison.

The two finally got divorced in 1990 after Mustafa suddenly left his family and moved to Egypt.

She revealed that when she called to inform him that one of their children had been killed in an accident, he replied: “What do I care?”

The mum-of-five, said to have remarried since their split, added,

“Some people spoke of Mustafa hijacking the plane out of his love for Marina of Oroklini. If only that was the case. I can assure those people that he never cared about me or his children – both when he was in Cyprus and after he left. The only thing he gave was pain, unhappiness and fear.

Some said that he wanted to meet me in his letter. That also is not true.

I went to the airport after the police asked to me to confirm if the voice during the communications was his.”
