Deaf Toddler Shows Extreme Happiness After Hearing his Mum’s Voice For First Time Via Hearing Aids

An excited mum from New Jersey has captured the heartwarming moment her 2-year-old son heard her voice for the first time after getting a hearing aid that helped him to hear more clearly.

According to ABC news, the toddler, Kaiden Orantes was diagnosed with progressive hearing loss, and his parents decided to teach him sign language and also started the process of having him fitted with special hearing aids.

Last week on June 14, Kaiden finally received his hearing aids and his mum Caitlin Orantes recorded his incredible reaction.

“He started freaking out and did the happy dance,” Orantes said of the moment her son heard the sound more clearly.

She added that her little boy was obsessed with music and dancing even before he had new hearing aids and he would be fixated by the vibrations coming from the television or radio.

“He is super drawn to music. … That’s something he can hear surprisingly [well].

“It transfers into your brain in a completely different way than [other] sounds would, she added.

With his hearing aids, Kaiden has been running around and playing his toy guitars his mum bought for him.

“This kid is obsessed with music,” she said. “I’ve had videos of him going crazy and trying to sing. He can’t form too many words.”

The excited mum said now that he has hearing aids, she hopes to get him in music classes. While doctors aren’t sure what’s causing the hearing loss, Orantes said she hopes he can someday get a cochlear implant.

“He’s finally able to hear the sound he’s creating,” Orantes said. “It’s so priceless.”
