Tragic: Father Accidentally Shoots & Kills 14 Year Old Son At Gun Range

William Clayton Brumby, a 64-year-old father, accidentally shot and killed his teenage son at a gun range on Sunday, 3rd of July, 2016.

ABC Action News reports that Brumby was shooting with his 14-year-old son, Stephen J. Brumby, against a wall at High Noon Guns in Florida, USA, when he accidentally shot him.

A statement released by the police described the incident as a tragic accident and confirmed that Brumby had accidentally shot his son.

It read, “After firing a round, the spent shell casing struck the wall, causing it to deflect and fall into the back of (the elder) Mr. Brumby’s shirt.

“Brumby then used his right hand, which was holding the handgun, in an attempt to remove the casing. While doing so, he inadvertently pointed the firearm directly behind him and accidentally fired.”

The young boy was taken to Sarasota Memorial hospital after the shooting but was pronounced dead shortly after. The teenager’s siblings, his 24-year-old brother and 12-year-old sister, who were also at the gun range, watched helplessly as their brother bled, sources say.

David Brumby, the 24-year-old brother told ABC Action News: “No matter how calm you try to stay, there’s no way to wipe the images away from your mind of your little brother bleeding out in your arms.”
“He was the most outgoing, gregarious, friendly, loving person that you’d ever know,” the eldest son added. He also stated that the siblings were all very close and shared a love of music. The late 14-year-old played in the worship band at his family’s church, he said.
According to Daily Mail, the boy’s mother later uploaded a picture of her dead son with the message, “There are no words” and the family set up a GoFundMe page in order to help the family with their expenses.

On the page was a description of the deceased, which read, “Stephen Brumby, the fourth of seven children and the son of Clayton and Elizabeth Brumby, died tragically July 3rd, 2016.

“In his 14 years of life he was described as “a meteor that couldn’t be contained” by his family or anyone that knew him.  He loved fishing, tennis, music, archery, and knife throwing. He had an insatiable appetite to learn and was constantly sharing his wisdom with those around him.
