Woman Chases Speeding Motorcycle To Rescue Daughter From A Kidnapper

A 35-year-old man, simply identified as Haruna, was caught on Agbe Road in the Abule Egba area of Lagos State on Wednesday for snatching a two-year-old girl from her mother and attempting to escape with her on a motorcycle.

Punch reports that the mother of the two-year-old quickly raised an alarm that her daughter was abducted by the kidnapper and chased after the motorcycle.

Some pedestrians and motorcyclists joined in the chase after the mother’s cry for help got their attention. They were said to have caught up with the suspect and dragged him from the motorcycle before stripping him naked and beating him.

The suspect was thereafter handed over to policemen from the Oko Oba division, sources say.

According to a motorcyclist in the area, who gave his name only as Saheed, the suspect dropped the girl when he realised the woman and other motorcyclists were on his trail. The crowd, however, continued to chase him.

He said, “The child was walking beside the mother around 3 pm; they were heading for a shop. The suspect, who rode a motorcycle, suddenly grabbed the child and sped off. The woman started shouting and running after the man.

“Although the man was almost out of sight, other motorcyclists and pedestrians began to give him a chase. There was confusion in the area as everyone mobilised to assist the woman get the kidnapper.”

He continued, “We thank God that it was a successful effort. When the man saw that other motorcyclists were closing in on him, he dropped the girl,  but the people refused to turn back.

“He was caught and stripped naked; he got the beating of his life. He was almost killed by the mob before some people dragged him to the Oko Oba Police Station.”

  • Thanks God….mehhhhh they should have been killed him instead, what will The Police do, release after bail

  • Very good. I love stories like this. Stupid idiot trying to abduct someone’s child mtschew. They should have beaten him to death sef rubbish.

  • All these “handing over to the police” doesn’t seem to be yielding much results, whoever is caught doing this ought to be burnt alive.. at this rate, jungle justice is what would curb this menace.

  • This is good news, kudos to everyone that made effort to save this little girl.

  • I thank God on behalf of that mother o,to the police, may you meet same fate if you as usual want to sweep this case under the carpet

  • Thank God he was caught. People should have done jungle judgement on him immediately. The man did not deserve to live. But as it is now he will help police to know his sender.
