Omotola Jalade Ekeinde and her husband, Captain Mathew Ekeinde, are one of the most admired couples in Nigeria’s showbiz industry, and for good reason.

Not only do they look good together, but some of the non-conventional values they hold as a couple, constantly leave us all in awe of their relationship.

1. They got Married on an Aircraft

After two years of dating, these two lovebirds got married on a plane. And yes, the plane was actually in flight during the ceremony, complete with the pastor who conducted the service, and wedding guests in attendance. How cool is that? Omotola was only 18 years old at the time. We can only imagine how fun and exciting it must have been for her – and for them both.

2. Mr. Ekeinde Doesn’t Mind Going to the market

In an interview with a major publication earlier this year, Omotola made a revelation that caused a bit of controversy: Mr. Ekeinde doesn’t mind going to the market.

These were her exact words:

“Let me tell you something more, my husband is actually the one who goes to the market. I don’t go to the market because I can’t. Because of my status, I can’t. But my husband didn’t say you know traditionally, a man is not supposed to go to the market, ‘I’m not gonna go, no’ my husband actually goes to the market.”

This is a couple that works together and compromises for each other. Their unconventional way of thinking is quite refreshing.

3. They Recently Celebrated their 20th Wedding Anniversary

To many people whose parents have been together longer than 30 years, 20 may seem like a small number. But in this day and age when  it is commonplace to see couples get divorced seemingly every other day, especially in the entertainment industry, it is quite encouraging to see the Ekeindes continue to thrive.
