Family of Two year Old Cancer Patient Overcome With Gratitude as Strangers Help Raise £250,000

The family of Florence Jackson, a little girl diagnosed with stage four neuroblastoma at just 16 months, have reached their target of raising over £250,000 in just 11 days from people’s donations and contribution.

The toddler went through 20 rounds of chemotherapy, major surgery, stem cell transplant, five weeks of radiotherapy and a final immunotherapy session before discovering the cancer had returned.

DailyMail reports that her family thought the cancer was gone after major surgeries and stages of chemo, only to be told that it had returned last year in November and was growing again, spreading to her stomach and wrapping around her blood vessels. She now needs life-saving surgery in the U.S but her parents Rodney, 41 and Carolyn Jackson, 46, did not have the £250,000 needed for the treatment. Miraculously, after an online funding campaign, the family managed to raise £255,091 in just 11 days from 8,501 donations, including one anonymous payment of £45,000.

Her father told reporters that it is very humbling to his family and himself to see how many people went out of their way to help save his daughter’s life, after being told by the doctors that they had to watch the cancer take over his precious angel’s life. He expressed gratitude stating:

So many friends, family and complete strangers are rallying around to help us and help little Flo out, it is amazing. Despite everything, Flo is still fighting on. We just want to say thank you to everyone that has helped. It is just amazing what everyone is doing for us.”
