Newlywed 76 Year Old Man Shoots 62 Year Old Wife for Not Having Sex With Him
A seven-month marriage is off to a rocky start, as Donald Royce, 76, was apprehended by the authorities for reportedly shooting his 62-year-old bride in the buttocks, due to her refusal to consummate their wedding.
New York Daily News reports that the couple’s roommate said she heard the argument, followed by two gun shots. When she went to find out what happened, Royce pointed the gun at her but she was able to talk him into letting her call an ambulance for his wife.
On the arrival of the authorities, he confessed immediately, saying “I shot her and the gun is in my room.” Upon questioning at the police station, Royce said that he got married in August, but had yet to have sex with his wife. He also told the police that he didn’t mean to shoot his wife, but was aiming for the mattress.
Royce’s wife, who has not been named, was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound to her butt and another to her hip. In her statement to the police, she said that they had been dating for over six years before they decided to tie the knot in August last year. Royce was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and is still being held on $100,000 bond.
