Revealed: Why President Muhammadu Buhari Extended his Leave in the UK

Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari is thanking Nigerians who have been praying for his health and well-being.

According to a statement signed by the President’s media aide, Femi Adesina, President Buhari revealed that the results of the series of medical checkups he carried out in the cause of his medical vacation had shown that he needs longer period of rest.

The statement titled ”President Buhari Thanks Nigerians for Prayers; Says No Cause for Worry”, claims that doctors gave the advice after they received results of Buhari’s “normal annual checkup.”

The statement read:

”President Muhammadu Buhari thanks millions of Nigerians who have been sending good wishes and praying for his health and well-being in mosques and churches throughout the country.

The President is immensely grateful for the prayers, show of love and concern.

President Buhari wishes to reassure Nigerians that there is no cause for worry.

During his normal annual checkup, tests showed he needed a longer period of rest, necessitating the President staying longer than originally planned.

The President, who was scheduled to return to Nigeria on February 5th 2017, wrote to the National Assembly that he’ll be extending his leave indefinitely to complete and receive the results of a series of tests recommended by his doctors (read here).

He left the country since January 19th, and his Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo has been performing his duties as Acting President.

  • It’s a huge shame that a country like Nigeria doesn’t have a hospital fit enough to do check up for the President. He has to travel all the way to London for check up and now he’s stock there. This our leaders got no shame, we are celebrating foolishness.

  • He was the same parson that encourage us to patronize made in Nigeria product, but where is him today………… Whether he comes back or not the country must move move forward
