Divorce Drama: Court Orders Mary J. Blige to Pay Ex Husband Monthly Spousal Support

46-year-old singer, Mary J. Blige may not want any drama in her life, but that’s exactly what she’s been getting during her divorce.
A court has ordered the “No More Drama” singer to pay her estranged husband, Martin “Kendu” Isaacs, $30,000 a month in temporary spousal support so as to accommodate the “style of living” Isaacs was accustomed to while he was married to Blige.E! News obtained the documents, which also state that Blige must pay him retroactively dating back to September, as well as account for his attorney fees for a total of $235,000.

He originally requested for $129,319 per month, but the judge reduced it to $30,000.

The Grammy-winning singer filed for divorce from Isaacs in July 2016 after 12 years of marriage and insisted that  their prenuptial agreement waived any spousal support.

“My success as an entertainer has nothing to do with [Isaacs]. I was successful when I met him and have continued to enjoy success, although there have certainly been ups and downs,” Blige told E!.

However, she challenged his demand, saying that she had been the only bread-winner in their family and is burdened with more than $10,000,000 in debt.

“[Isaacs] suggests we lived a lavish lifestyle and in fact, we overspent and we are in significant debt,” she stated in the court docs.

Blige, also alleged that Isaacs had been misappropriating money, about $420,000 to be exact, for two years when they were together, which involved “travel charges” for his girlfriend.

Blige also claimed that Isaacs drives a Mercedes that she pre-paid the lease on and that he refuses to turn over possession of her “Grammy and other achievement awards.”
The court, however, declared that Isaacs was entitled to some money to accommodate the standard of living he was used to while they were married.
Though the estranged pair have no biological children together, but Blige has been a stepmother to Issac’s three children; Briana, Jordan and Nas.
