Dear MIMsters: Something Quite Strange About My Marriage Has Brought Me to this Conclusion

I married an Nnewi man while I am from Akwa Ibom. My marriage is quite strange which has brought me to conclusion.
I followed my husband to the village to live with his mum because I was due to give birth. My husband is an offshore worker who spends two months at work. Also, I am an orphan and I thought there will be  nobody to look after me when I give birth.
Since I put to birth last year April, my husband has refused to come and take us back home. When he comes to see us in the village, he doesn’t sleep in his father’s house for one day. He returns to Port Harcourt that same day after spending a few hours with us.
For one year and some months, we have not had sex and since I put to birth. My daughter is one already but she doesn’t know her father, let alone sleep on the same bed with him for once. His excuse is he is building a house, that’s why he wants us to remain in the village until it is completed. People, help me! For how long will I remain in the village?
Secondly, his mum is a wicked woman. She dealt with me in the hospital when I wanted to give birth she never told me sorry for one day, even the baby’s clothes I bought, she came to the hospital complaining to people she doesn’t even know telling them that I bought rubbish baby’s clothes, yet I still show her respect as my MIL.
When I was discharged, I never the tasted pepper soup they cook for women recovering from child birth. Instead, I was given akamu everyday. But she kept lying to visitors on how she went to the market to buy stockfish and ingredients to make pepper soup for me.
I’ve been living with her for over one year and I’m tired. Anytime my hubby comes to the village with gifts, she is always jealousy of me. And she instructs the houseboy to always eavesdrop on my telephone conversation so she can know what’s going between me and her son.
Everybody has begged my husband to come and take us back home but he has refused. His siblings are not happy with him over this. His mum will blame him today, support him tomorrow, she’s neither here nor there.
Finally, I decided to leave his father’s house with my baby since I am not married to his parents. Since I left his father’s house he has not called me to know where we are. His aunts have been the ones calling to know how we are doing.
Meanwhile, people are suggested that my husband is being spiritually manipulated and needs prayers. I am sick and tired of this because this is not marriage. I need to go and find a job so I can take care myself and my daughter I can’t keep staying in the village. I’m getting older than my age.

Help I need suggestions on what to do.

  • Get a job my dear.
keep praying for him but do no stagnate your life .Take care of yourself and your baby. May the good Lord see you through in Jesus CHrist Name Amen!

  • No woman should be dependent on a man, your life will be miserable.

  • While you keep praying for him to change for the better, get something doing so you can take care of itself and your baby. God will always make a way.
