Dear MIMsters: Why My Husband Confessed to Me About His Sleazy Staff

My husband works for himself but business has been bad lately. This has affected his ability to provide. He is usually a good provider. My husband has 2 member staff working for him, a male and a female.

A few weeks ago, I noticed this female staff was a little arrogant towards me when I went to my husband’s office. When we were ready to go home, she quickly took the front seat in my husband’s car. I am nursing a baby so I sit at the back. This female staff became so confident that she always took the front seat even when the male staff wants a ride with us.

I called my husband’s attention to this. I told him to stop being so free with his staff and behave like a boss to avoid being misunderstood especially by this woman but he says he can’t treat his staff the way he was treated by his former boss.

Last week, after my husband got home from his office, I perceived this woman’s perfume on him and I mentioned it but he denied. I noticed his behaviour was out of sorts. Last night when he returned home, he told me that this woman came into his office 2 weeks ago. He said she started by telling him not to allow the state of their business weigh him down and tried to make him cheer up. And before he knew it, she was already kissing him. They stopped when she got up to go and lock his office door.

Again, this week, she repeated the same thing and even blamed herself for not having condoms in her bag. He said he noticed that after each episode, she’ll start mentioning all of the things that she will love to buy and that was how he concluded that she was looking for someone who will be paying her bills.

He said he decided to tell me because even though they are yet to have sex, it would eventually happen if he didn’t open up to me.

As angry and hurt as I was, I decided to go to his office to have a talk with this female staff. After telling her, “I know what you’ve been doing with my husband,” she became visibly surprised that my husband told me. I told her she doesn’t have to give herself away to a man in exchange for money (she’s almost 30years). I told her that if she wants to have a happy home, she should stop doing what she’s been doing and she couldn’t deny it.

Before all these happened, we have been thinking of relieving her off her job. This is due to the struggling state of the business and the fact that there’s hardly any work for her to do in the office. My husband has been struggling to pay their salaries. If anyone has been working, it is the male staff, even when business was booming. She doesn’t even have skills that the job requires but I made no issue of it because I did not want to make her jobless because of the economy. Now I’ve told my husband to sack her and she has been sacked.
