Yvonne Jegede Finally Opens Up On Her Rumoured Troubled Marriage To Actor, Olakunle Fawole

Nigerian television personality, actress, and film maker, Yvonne Jegede has opened up about the crisis currently rocking her marriage to rapper/actor Olakunle Abounce Fawole, son of late veteran actress, Bukky Ajayi.

The Nollywood stars had their court and traditional wedding in 2017.

The crisis began after the duo welcomed their four-month-old son, Xavier Fawole. The actress who welcomed her first child 21-months after she got married to Abounce, in a recent interview with Pulse.ng said she and husband started having issues in their marriage three months after she got pregnant with her son.

In her words,

“We started having issues before the birth of Xavier. I think I was about two to three months pregnant when the issues came. Immediately the issues came, there was never a dull moment, it just kept going up and up and it got worse and it got bad and today here we are.”

The Edo State-born movie star said when the issues in her marriage became obvious and irredeemable she moved out of their matrimonial home after a mutual agreement.

“Right now, we are not living together, and we are not living as husband and wife, we are not husband and wife anymore and I would say a mutual agreement to go our separate ways. It didn’t work out, it wasn’t working out,” Jegede said.

However, Yvonne Jegede with a career spanning 16 years said her marriage to Abounce was worth it for the months it lasted. She said the times they shared together as a couple were nice and sweet so she wouldn’t trample on those times.

Yvonne also cleared the air about the paternity of her child saying Abounce can’t deny the fact that Xavier is 100% his son.

“I don’t call him. I only reached out to him when I feel the need to because he knows Xavier is his son, he is 100% sure he’s his son.

He’s been to the house twice after we got back to the country, he’s come to see his son twice and he has pictures with his son on his phone which I took so why he’s not posting them, maybe his personal reasons, maybe he’s not like me who is showing my joy to the world, I don’t know but is that enough to give me a name? no, you don’t give me a name like that, common, that is not right, people tried to bully me or make dry joke over this, about my life, would you be happy if I were your sister but anyways, I am here, I am strong and will be strong for my son. I have morals to set for him and what the world is about.”

Separation rumours began trailing the duo’s marriage barely a year after Abounce married Yvonne at a simple but classy wedding ceremony in Lagos.

Reports surfaced last month that Yvonne had moved out of her husband’s house just as her cryptic Instagram posts seem to back the claims.

The pretty mom dedicated her son in church last month in Lagos. The actress conspicuously left her husband out when she shared a post, thanking well-wishers.

Also, in a photo of her and the baby’s godparents, she once again left him out. Also, her left hand was without her wedding ring.

Abounce also completely ignored the celebration and posted a meme on the same day. Yvonne, who has since reverted to her maiden name, has also deleted her husband’s name and photographs from her Instagram page.

Fans have long suspected that all may not be well with the couple as their social media pages carry little of one another- how most celebrity couples in Nigeria hint that they’re no longer together.

Abounce and Yvonne met 15 years ago on the set of Tade Ogidan’s popular drama serial, ‘Behind the Seige’.
