“Why is ‘husband house’ such a priority for Nigerian women?” Former BBN Housemate, Ifuennada Asks

Former housemate of the 2018 Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) reality show, Ifuennada, was a little irked by a comment on her Instagram account. The reality star while responding to the comment which appeared to be in good faith and was supposed to be a compliment bared her mind on how exaggeratedly Nigerian women prioritize marriage.

 Ifu, as she is fondly called, felt uncomfortable after she shared a pretty photo of herself  and someone in her comment section referred to her as “somebody’s wife” and attached a lovestruck emoji.

While responding to the comment, she made it clear that getting married is not her priority at the moment as she wants to earn as much money as she can and travel the world on her own before marriage.

When reminded that she can do so in her husband’s house, Ifuennada wondered why the ”husband house” is so much of a priority to Nigerian women.

Not my portion now abeg. I want to make money and travel the world myself before settling with any man.

She responded to another comment saying:

Why is husband house such a priority to the average Nigerian woman? People are built different and have different goals in life. Marriage is not on the table anytime soon. I can’t even stand being in a relationship now, let alone marriage. Biko, that institution is not for me now. I am not mentally/ emotionally/ financially ready anytime soon.
