‘I Don’t Feel Like Forgiving Her Killers’ – Grieving Pastor Whose Pregnant Wife Was Killed

Pastor Davey Blackburn, the husband of Amanda Blackburn, the pregnant mother of one who was murdered (read here), has spoken about his wife’s brutal murder as the two men charged with her killing made their first court appearance, reports Inside Edition.

The pastor said,

“I don’t feel like forgiving. I feel like being angry, but that doesn’t lead to anything down the road.”

Pastor Blackburn’s 13 weeks pregnant wife was shot to death in their Indianapolis home. Although the suspected assailants, 18-year-old Larry Jo Taylor and 21-year-old Jalen Watson, have pleaded not guilty to the alleged home invasion attack, newly released police documents proved otherwise. Taylor told investigators he shot Amanda when she charged at him; then he leaned over her and shot her in the back of the head, according to the police report.

Blackburn and Amanda’s father are yet to fully come to terms with the needless death. Blackburn said,

“We’re trying to take it a day at a time and we know we’re going to have to get a little into those weeds in order to rise above them. But I just feel like if we took it all at once, it would crush us.”

Amanda’s father, Phil Byars, said he remains focused on the good things about his daughter. He says,

“I’m proud to be her dad. I’m proud of what she turned into. I’m proud of the woman that she was and the mother that she was. And that’s all I have to say.”
