Like Father Like Son: Nigerian Celebrities Following In Their Fathers’ Footsteps

1. Femi and Seun Kuti. The two sons of Afrobeat legend, Fela Kuti, have followed in their father’s footsteps and have taken the Nigerian music industry by storm. The award-winning duo are undoubtedly great multi-instrumentalists, musicians, and composers like their father.
2. Femi Adebayo. The son of the veteran Yoruba actor, Adebayo Salami, popularly known by his stage name, Oga Bello, is another Nigerian celebrity who is closely following in his father’s footsteps. Like his father, this award-winning Yoruba actor is known for his great acting skills and excellent portrayal of characters in movies.
3. Yul Edochie. Named after the Russian actor, Yul Brynner, the Nollywood actor chose to take the path of his veteran actor father, Pete Edochie, after obtaining a degree in Dramatic Arts from the University of Port Harcourt. The father of three, who has won a couple of awards for his movie roles, recently launched the Yul Edochie Film Academy, where he trains aspiring actors. He can best be described as a real chip off the old block.
4. Dare Art-Alade. The son of legendary Jazz musician, Art Alade, has become a music legend in his own right, with a number of award-winning songs to his name. He started singing at an early age when he joined the church choir.
5. Kunle and Gabriel Afolayan. The sons of the famous Nigerian theater/film director and producer, Adeyemi Josiah Afolayan aka Ade Love, have also imitated their father. They have both become well-known Nollywood actors, with the older of the brothers producing and directing some of the most popular Nollywood titles, including ‘The Figurine‘, ‘Phone Swap‘, ‘The CEO‘ amongst others.
