Shakira Opens Up About Son’s Illness After Canceling Performances

Shakira has revealed that she has been caring for her sick 21-month-old son Sasha after canceling two major appearances due to “personal matters.”

The 39-year-old Colombian singer posted a smiling photo of her and Sasha on instagram, thanking fans for their messages saying that he was feeling better although not revealing what illness he had in the first place.

“Thanks for all the messages you sent for Sasha while he was sick, Everything is under control now, and he’s back to his cheerful self!” she captioned the picture.

Later in the day, she posted another photo of Sasha playing with his big brother Milan who will celebrate his fourth birthday on January 22 next year.

People reports that Shakira canceled her scheduled performances on monday through a tweet for Thursday’s Latin GRAMMYs and Sunday’s American Music Awards without much elaboration. Here’s what she said:

“Due to personal matters, I won’t be able to travel to Las Vegas and LA to attend the @LatinGRAMMYs or the @AMAs this year, I will be accompanying @carlosvives in spirit @LatinGRAMMYs, celebrating this incredible year that we’ve shared together with #LaBicicleta,” she tweeted.
