On Domestic Violence: Nigerian Radio Personality, Toke Makinwa Advises Women On The Appropriate Step To Take. Do You Agree With Her?
Nigerian Radio Personality and vlogger, Toke Makinwa, 33, is again dishing out some marital advice to women.
In a tweet chat with some of her followers recently, the famous Lagos-based radio show host and author of “On Becoming”, who has always been criticized for giving marital advice based on her failed marriage to ex-husband, Maje Ayida, was counseling women in abusive marriages on the appropriate steps to take.
According to Toke, who officially got divorced last year following allegations of infidelity and many more, women should be bold enough to walk out of toxic marriages.
When asked by one of her followers on what women facing domestic violence ought to do, Toke replied, “It is lame to stay in such marriage because of financial gain.”

She also added that she is yet to see anyone who left such marriage do badly.
“Staying in a domestic marriage because of financial gain or the lies you tell yourself about surviving is lame, I’m yet to see anyone leave a bad situation do badly, it’s the fear that keeps you from your potential,” she wrote.
Then the follower inquired again:
“Well, I ask this concerning someone who I know, she is afraid because of her children. How will she survive with 5 of them,”
And she replied;
”If she’s dead, they will survive. Women need to get busy, relying on a man can put you in jeopardy. Use your hands, get up, get busy. Life goes on with or without you, the fear of being judged, criticized or shamed won’t matter if you are not here.
It’ll hurt till it stops hurting but you must leave. Get out. No matter how hard you love that person, get out today. Stay alive.”
