The emphasis on molding women and girls towards becoming ‘wife material’ while excusing men and boys from thought processes and behaviours that will help them become ‘husband-material’ does not sit well with Nollywood actor, Akah Nanni. On this note, he is setting an example to change that narrative.
According to the actor who has been married for a little over a year, the world would be so much better if we worked together and create an environment within the family where everyone can feel loved and valued.
He took to his Instagram page to start a challenge for his married friends, leading by example, Akah charged them to commit to helping their families in doing house chores, and share evidence of their work. The challenge has now gained some traction with a number of celebrities jumping on the train.

He stated further that men should protect their families from the social damage of having an absent father. To buttress his point, the actor shared some photos of himself doing house chores.

He wrote:

I believe a man’s responsibility is to protect the woman, his wife, from stress. In these times, fathers are to protect their kids from germs.

Help your kids wash their hands. Protect your family from the social damage of having an absent father.

We always talk about ‘wife material’ well, there should be #HusbandMaterial too then.

We live in a world where women are unfairly burdened with the responsibility of caring for the home alone. They cook, clean, take care of the kids and all sorts… Then still have to do work.

I’ve been married for over a year now and before marriage, I always knew I didn’t want domestic help.
