Expecting Mom, Chrissy Teigen Shares Candid Post About Having A “Difficult” Third Pregnancy
Chrissy Teigen has once again opened up about her third pregnancy on her Instagram Story, revealing that it’s proving more challenging than her previous two.
Speaking from bed, after being instructed to go on “super serious bed rest,” the cookbook author, 34, who is expecting her third child with husband John Legend, said,
“It’s a bit of a difficult pregnancy. I feel good though. I will say I’m probably being punished for talking so much about how great the first two went. I was like, ‘Oh yeah! Pregnancy’s awesome!’ Now I get it. I get anyone that thinks it’s not so awesome.”
Last week, the soon-to-be mother of three tweeted that she’d been directed to go on “official 2 week bed rest” but on Instagram yesterday, she admitted that she’d misunderstood the conditions.
“I didn’t really know that bed rest was, like, in bed. I honestly thought bed rest was you have to really really really relax, stay home. I thought it could be couch rest.
“Now I’m in trouble, so now I need bed rest. So just letting everyone know that if I have to bail on anything, it’s because I’m on, like, super serious bed rest times. Because yeah, I’m just trying to be as healthy as possible,”
she added.

When she first tweeted about going on bed rest, Teigen revealed how she planned to spend her time: sewing.
“I’m taking this time to learn how to sew capes and kid clothes so shit is about to get…astonishingly ugly,”
she tweeted.

This isn’t the first time in recent months that Chrissy has been candid about her pregnancy journey.
During her pregnancy with her son Miles Theodore, now 2, Chrissy spoke about her struggles with pregnancy headaches — turning to her followers for advice on how to remedy it. She wrote back in 2017:
“I love being pregnant. I like it more than not being pregnant. But the headaches, my god the headaches. Someone…please help. Don’t say water. Or Tylenol. Or iron. Or magnesium. I need witchcraft.”
Last month, she revealed the unexpected way she and John Legend found out they were expanding their family. As a matter of fact, the star confessed she had no idea she was pregnant when she underwent breast implant removal surgery in June.
“Question… @chrissyteigen just announced she’s pregnant. Before my breast reduction last year, they did a pregnancy test. Was she pregnant when she had her surgery in June? I feel like with her bump she had to be pregnant before that, but I could be wrong. I’m confused,”
one Twitter user asked in August.
“Oh, it’s quite a story. lol… I did the routine pregnancy test you do before surgery. It said negative. It was not negative,” Chrissy responded.
“A few weeks after surgery, I took a test. And for many years now, I’ve taken pregnancy tests almost every month, praying to see a positive one day. Just wishful thinking. I never had a positive before.”
Chrissy explained that she decided to take a pregnancy test ahead of John’s appearance on Good Morning America. Chrissy recalled:
“I woke up with him and was like man, should take my monthly test to be disappointed. I was not disappointed. But I was scared s–tless. Was pretty positive you shouldn’t get your boobs out while pregnant? Pretty sure.”
“So we prayed to the boob surgery gods that everything would be okay,” she went on. “Went to every appointment terrified. Even without the surgery, I didn’t think I could get pregnant naturally anyway. So the odds just felt…bad.”
Chrissy described that everything fell into place when she least expected it.

“But what they say so often can be true. When you give up on trying, life has a way of surprising you. In summary, my boobs hurt,” she pointed out, adding, “Also, you guys have seen how rough these past few months were for me here. So now you know why I just extra appreciated all the love and support through it all, especially since you didn’t even know. You just thought I was in stressful internet hell.”
As fans will remember, on Aug. 13, Chrissy announced her pregnancy in a surprising way. For John’s “Wild” music video, the star cradled her growing baby bump as her husband held onto her.
Earlier this week, John revealed that the moment almost didn’t happen in his music video.
“[Chrissy] was kind of hedging her bets, because we were early in our pregnancy,” he told People. “We hadn’t taken all the tests to make sure everything is okay, and she said, ‘Let’s just shoot it.’ And by the time the video would be edited, we could decide whether or not to use that scene.”
“Then all the tests came back great and everything was healthy and good, so we knew it wouldn’t be too early to tell people that we were pregnant by that point,” he continued. “So by the time the edit was done, we were comfortable saying to the world that we were pregnant.
