‘DNA Test Should Be Gone Immediately After A Woman Welcomes A Baby’ – Nigerian Woman Proposes As She Recounts Her Experience At The Hospital She Gave Birth
A Nigerian woman whose baby was almost swapped during delivery has suggested that DNA tests should be done immediately after pregnant women deliver their babies.
The mother called into a program on ‘Your View’ on TVC this morning as Paternity fraud was being discussed.
According to Kemi, she and another woman welcomed their babies together on the same day in 2003. However, while she was pregnant, she did a scan which showed she was expecting a boy but when she gave birth, a chubby girl was presented.
She said when she questioned the sex of the child, the nurses in the General hospital insisted that that was her baby.
Kemi said that her saving grace was her pastor who stopped by at the hospital to check on her as her husband wasn’t around at the time.
She said the pastor made sure to cause a scene at the hospital and that was when the nurses ‘remembered’ another boy had been born on the same day. They ended handing over her real baby to her at the end of the day.
She said in part:
“You can imagine if I had gone home with that chubby girl, they would say I had a child that is not her husband’s own. I want to suggest that whatever DNA that is to be done should be done in the hospital as soon as the woman has given birth.”
