‘He Stood On My Neck Until I Passed Out’ – Woman Relives Ex-Boyfriend’s Assault
A young woman beaten within an inch of her life by her thug ex-boyfriend has relieved her horrible experience.
Mirror reports Victoria O’Callaghan, 24, was left virtually unrecognisable after Anthony Kearney broke into her home on Christmas night and brutally assaulted her.
Police said if the attack – which continued for around to an hour – had lasted just a few more minutes, Victoria would be dead.
During the terrifying ordeal, Kearney punched, kicked and stamped on his former girlfriend, at one point holding his foot on her neck until she passed out.
The 28-year-old was jailed for two years after admitting actual bodily harm at Liverpool Crown Court last week.
Brave Victoria has decided to speak out in the hope of encouraging other woman to tell police about domestic abuse.
Shockingly, Kearney’s violent rage was sparked because he believed Victoria had not said ‘bye’ to him in the pub earlier in the night.
The assistant cook, from Birkenhead, told the Mirror: “He was going mad, shouting how I didn’t say bye to him. He strangled me, kicked me, and even stood on my head so I couldn’t move. His foot was on my neck, choking me. I must have passed out then as I can’t remember anymore.”
After the assault, Kearney even urged Victoria to lie to her mum about what happened and pretend she’d been mugged while walking home.
The attack was the culmination of a string of assaults.
Victoria told how she suffered violence regularly at her ex-boyfriend’s hands, but was too afraid to get help until they finally split in October.
She said: “It was the beatings that made us break up. He’d give me black eyes. He would drink and lose his temper. That’s the danger of domestic violence. You don’t realise when you’re involved in it. I thought everyone was against him at the time. I thought, wrongly, I could control the situation. I was making excuses for him. But he has hatred inside him.”
Her friend Charlotte, the first person to see her pal in such a terrible state, said: “I was in tears when I saw her, It was horrendous.”
But Victoria says she now feels proud of going to police, and is encouraging other women in the same situation not to suffer in silence and get help.
She added: “I know a lot of people would keep quiet. You don’t realise the support you’ve got. You think you’re alone with it all. I’m lucky to be alive after what he did to me. I shudder to think of the women who stay with men who do this to them year in and year out.”
Women should learn to say no to domestic violence please this is getting too much oh chai
Say Good bye once it get’s to beating oooooooo
hmmmmmmmmmm, the earlier you speak up the better and avoid violence don’t support or coverup for a violent partner, this is what women should consider well… it is well
Hehehehehehehe nawa oooo this is just too much!
Thank GOD d beast was thought a lesson
Animalistic behaviour
What a beast of a man!!! Sometimes I wonder why a woman will stay in an abusive relationship till things gets out of hand. The signs are always there and I think a woman should just take a long walk once u take note of it.
Oh God what a world!!!! Sm men though *smh*
My God!!!!
Son of a devil. Two years is not enof compared to d gravity of his act.
TnkGod she survived.
2 years is too short. Domestic abuse is also psycological. It’s often difficult to get out of it. A cousin of mine was killed by her husband last year due to extensive abuse from her husband. No one knew until it was too late
That is so brave of her instead o dieing i silence
Women, say NO to domestic violence, it’s totally wrong, don’t give-in to it and walk away as fast as you can if the relationship is getting physical.
Hmmm this is terrible to say the least. Thank God you are alive to tell d story. God forbid that anybody I know goes through such cos I fir personally bundle d person out of such relationship
