The Simple Lifestyle Changes African-American Comedian, Tiffany Haddish Made To Drop 40 Pounds!
Tiffany Haddish is one of the rare celebs to come out of quarantine with a major weight loss, as well as super ripped abs!
Haddish turned 41 yesterday—and the African-American comedian is feeling healthier than ever. In a new interview with People, the Girls Trip star revealed she recently lost 40 pounds after making some major lifestyle changes during lockdown.
Tiffany’s home quarantine turned out to be the best thing for her body, as she ate fresh and nutritional vegetables right out of her own backyard garden.
She also made sure to get some degree of calorie burning exercise done on a daily basis. As a result, the Girls Trip star has lost a stunning amount weight from of her already fit figure since home lockdown began in March. The 41-year-old tells the publication in a new interview.
“During this COVID period, I’ve lost 40 pounds. I’ve been eating differently, eating way more vegetables, definitely eating directly out of my garden and just really putting in the work, making sure I sweat every single day and staying up on nutrition – nutrition is everything.”
Tiffany also reveals that she’s been exercising “anywhere from 15 minutes to sometimes two hours.” And it isn’t all strength and cardio, as the comedian says, “And I try to dance every day for like five to ten minutes. I think that’s really important, too: Make it fun!”
Tiffany, who previously struggled with homelessness and food insecurity, said she was inspired by the late Olympian Florence Griffith Joyner.
As a result, Tiffany now has abs and her body is becoming ripped. She just started the 30 Day Transformation challenge right after Thanksgiving and showed a mirror a selfie to fans on Nov. 30.
Her toned obliques are already coming along nicely, and Tiff even claimed that her chest was shrinking as her bra had become more loose.
“I had this thought in my mind that I want the body of Flo-Jo!” Tiffany said, referring to the late Olympic gold medalist track star who still holds the record as fastest woman alive. The funny lady is definitely getting there!
In a recent Instagram video, Tiffany revealed that last year on her birthday, she weighed 182 pounds. But throughout the past several months, the comedian’s hard work has paid off in an inspiring way.
Here’s everything Tiffany has shared about her weight loss journey.
1. She quit smoking and hit the gym.
In July 2018, Tiffany decided to quit smoking. While kicking the habit is for the best, it’s common for people to gain around five to 10 pounds a month after giving up cigarettes (as the nicotine typically speeds up your metabolism).
“I’ve been eating like it ain’t nobody’s business,” she told Ellen DeGeneres in October 2019. “To counteract that, I started working out on the fourth of July.”
The diva also told Harper’s Bazaar that she loves group workouts (pre-COVID!), and looks for little ways to move her body during the day.
“I prefer to do stairs, like if I’m in a tall building I like to go up and down the stairs,” she said. For extra motivation, she invested in home gym equipment, like kettlebells and a Peloton bike, to ensure she can maintain her fitness routine, she said in an Instagram video.
2. She’s following a personalized weight loss program.
On Instagram, the actress shared a mirror photo saying that she recently started Luther Freeman’s 30 Day Transformation program, which offers personalized fitness and nutrition plans. The program evaluates your body mass index (BMI) and lifestyle, and then makes a custom plan featuring nutrition tips and workouts such as plyometrics, cardio, and strength training.
“Started my @30daytransformationteam program three days ago and look I think I see ABS and my bra getting lose,” Tiffany wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of her in a bra and sweats.

3. She loads up on protein and veggies.
Eating a healthy, nutritious diet was key to Tiffany’s 40-pound weight loss.
“I’ve been eating differently, eating way more vegetables, definitely eating directly out of my garden and just really putting in the work, making sure I sweat every single day and staying up on nutrition,” she told People.
“Nutrition is everything.”
In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, the entertainer said she grows strawberries, kale, Swiss chard, celery, and more in her home garden. She loves to throw them together into a juice in the mornings. She also sips on turmeric and ginger tea for a cozy drink while she’s traveling, or load up on eggs with avocado for a more filling breakfast.
For snacks, she usually reaches for fruits, nuts, or pickles (the woman loves pickles). Once lunch and dinner comes around, Tiffany prefers to get tons of protein with chicken breast and fish, veggie-rich soups, and nutrient-rich salads.
Quitting smoking, upping your workouts, and overhauling your diet? It’s not easy. Go, Tiffany!
