Actress, Ayo Mogaji Spills On Leaving Her Marriage After 13 Years Of Abuse, Ectopic Pregnancy And Having Her Only Child At 40 With One Fallopian Tube
Veteran Nollywood star, Binta Ayo Mogaji has opened up about her many life challenges and how she pulled through.
During an appearance with actress Biola Bayo on the ‘Talk To B’ podcast, the actress talked about her how she finally left her abusive marriage after 13 years and harrowing path to motherhood.
The actress recounted a harrowing experience with an ectopic pregnancy, which necessitated the removal of one of her fallopian tubes.
“Unfortunately, the pregnancy was ectopic. They took me to seven different hospitals. The doctor said he wasn’t sure I could survive until the next day. The operation took them seven to nine hours. Some of my colleagues who visited me at the hospital were crying,”
the actress shared, reflecting on the difficult period.
Despite this setback, she was able to conceive and give birth naturally at the age of 40.
Determined to become a mother, Ayo Mogaji had resolved to adopt if she could not conceive by the age of 40. However, she gave birth to her son just weeks after reaching this milestone. She explained:
“I stopped looking for a husband; I wanted to make a baby. I said if I don’t have a baby until I’m 40, then I’ll adopt a child.”

Her partner, actor Jibola Dabo, came into her life shortly before she turned 40, and their son was born six weeks after her birthday.
Ayo Mogaji also opened up on her marital journey with retired footballer and physiotherapist, Victor Ayodele Oduleye and how she left the marriage after 13 years following series of abuse.
The entertainer revealed that despite initially being in love, the relationship turned abusive, with Oduleye subjecting her to physical, mental, and verbal abuse.
Mogaji recounted how she would often sit outside their home, waiting for someone to arrive, to avoid being abused.
She said she endured the situation for thirteen years before separating from her husband four years ago.
The actress emphasised the importance of seeking help and leaving abusive relationships, advising others to prioritize their safety and well-being.
“We fell in love with each other but received beating over any little thing. Even in England the abusive language, the mental torture, the physical abuse, when it gets too much I will advise anybody to get out of that marriage.
“It got to a stage that when it’s only two of us at home, I do go outside the compound and sit till when someone will come around so that I will not be abused. We were in it for like thirteen years and we have been separated for four years now,”
she shared.
