Woman Delivers Baby In Office Toilet And Guess What She Did With It
A woman who gave birth inside an office bathroom — and then allegedly tried to hide the delivery from co-workers by shoving the doomed baby inside her desk drawer — has been charged with murder, the Mirror, UK reports.
25-year-old Kimberly Pappas was probably not prepared to be a mum but seemed shabbily prepared to deliver her baby herself, using a cuticle scissors to cut the newborn’s umbilical cord inside an office bathroom in Michigan.
According to the media, the supply company employee then reportedly stuffed him into a sealed plastic bag and hid him inside her desk for about 30 minutes.
Employees called the police after they found a pool of blood in the bathroom, the Press reported.
Pappas had told authorities she had a miscarriage, but an autopsy ruled the baby’s death a homicide. Medical examiners determined he died from suffocation shortly after he was born, according to CBS Detroit.
The Wyandotte woman was arraigned on murder and child abuse charges for the March 31 incident, the NYDN adds. Her lawyer did not immediately return calls for comment, and Pappas is due to return to court on June 8.
Under Michigan law, parents are allowed to anonymously surrender their newborn children to authorities within 72 hours.
