‘You’re as guilty as I am for the life I led’ – Inmate Awaiting Execution Pens Heartfelt Letter to Biological Mum

The very last wish of the death row inmate awaiting execution pictured above was reportedly a request to write a letter to be handed over to his biological mother. He was said to have requested for a pencil and paper, and after writing for several minutes, called the prison guard and pleaded that the letter be delivered to his mum.

Read the heartfelt letter below:

Mother, if there were more justice in this world, we would be both executed and not just me. You’re as guilty as I am for the life I led.
Remind yourself when I stole and bring home the bicycle of a boy like me?
You helped me to hide the bicycle for my father did not see it. Do you remember the time I stole money from the neighbor’s wallet?
You went with me to the mall to spend it.

Do you remember when I argued with my father and he’s gone?
He just wanted to correct me because I stole the final result of the competition and for that I had been expelled.
Mom, I was just a child, shortly after I became a troubled teenager and now I’m a pretty malformed man.
Mom, I was just a child in need of correction, and not an approval. But I forgive you!
I just want this letter to reach the greatest number of parents in the world, so they can know what makes all people, good or bad …is education.
Thank you mother for giving me life and also helping me to lose it.
Your child offender.

  • Wow! This touched me. I am crying not because he would be executed, but because his mother failed to raise him properly. I hope she gets this letter and see what a failure she has been. How can you encourage your child to steal?

  • Oh my god this is so touching God give us wisdom as parents to do d right thing and teach our children d right thing

  • This letter will hunt the mother for the rest of her life, she use her own hand to destroy the future of her son. what a pity

  • Wow… this is a huge lesson for all mothers. Correct your child when necessary and don’t cover up their sin to make yourself or your child appear nice to the public.

  • touchy, yea but there are kids who do not have parents/guardian but live to/more than expectation with the advice given to others or mistakes others made, your mum should be blames but u deserve the highest blame

  • Hmmm so so unfortunate! Train up a child in a way he should go that when he is old he won’t depart from it.

  • What kind of a mother encourages his son 2 steal, I mean who does dat? See Hw u destroyed n ruined ur own sons life. I ask 4 wisdom 2 come upon every mother 2 kn when to correct n discipline our kids IJN.

  • Ibeh Chinwe, some children can train themselves even when they have bad parents, note that I said “SOME”, and Perhaps God gives grace to the ones you mentioned, that have no parents to teach them. But the truth still remains that “the Mind of the child is Tabula rasa”, (blank) John Locke, Hence the bible verse Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it Proverbs 22:6. The young man knows very well that his mum encouraged him rather than discouraging while he was doing wrong.

  • Wow! Infact I wish he won’t have to be executed anymore. Parents should learn and I agree with him.that parents all over the world should read this

  • mother was wrong agreed, but he knew he was doing bad.so what do we say to children who barely had an advicer but came out well?too bad though.
