Pictured: Parents Lose Six Children Due to Food Poisoning in Anambra

Tragedy struck the community of Ekwulumili in the Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State, as six siblings were confirmed dead after eating poisoned food on Saturday.

The parents of the deceased were said to have attempted to commit suicide since the unfortunate incident, Punch reports.

According to an eyewitness identified as Ewenike Ogechukwu, who shared the sad photos of the deceased siblings on his Facebook wall, the six children had been poisoned by an unknown person through the food they kept at home.

He posted: “The children were poisoned by an unknown person through the food they kept at home in Ekwulumili, Anambra State. But serious investigation is in progress now, the victims must be figured out and not go on punished.”

Another resident of the community, Chidozie Venantius, also shared the incident on Facebook and urged the government to look into the matter and fish out the perpetrators.

He said: “The town has been boiling since yesterday (Saturday). A family lost six children in what they deemed as food poisoning. The parents want to commit suicide.

”Please help us pass the information to the appropriate quarters. ”

It was also reported that the police had visited the scene of the incident and commenced an investigation to unravel the person behind the death.

The Anambra State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Ali Okechukwu stated that he was not aware of the incident but has, however, promised to contact the police division in-charge of the area and give feedback today.
