Television Host & Mum-of-One, Wendy Williams Tears Up While Sharing On Her ‘Lowest Point’ As A Mother

Controversial TV host and mum Wendy Williams got tearful on Tuesday while hosting her famous show – The Wendy Williams Show. Wendy was discussing the recent sentencing of Desperate Housewives star, Felicity Huffman, after the mum -of-two was found guilty of college admissions fraud. Wendy who after a year-long break recently returned to hosting her eponymous talk show, became emotional recalling her lowest point as a mum, when her son, Kevin Hunter Jr. visited her while she was holed up in a sober house.

The talk show host didn’t hide the fact that she took some time to live in a sober house to get treatment for past issues with cocaine, which she revealed on The Wendy Williams Show back in March. Still, the talk show host admitted having one regret— having her son, Kevin Jr., come visit her while there.

“It was like the lowest point,”

she said tearfully on Tuesday’s show while discussing Huffman being imprisoned for her part in the college admissions cheating scandal . The actress was sentenced to only 14 days in prison.

During her “Hot Topics” segment when she was discussing Huffman’s husband and daughter coming to visit her last weekend, Williams said,

“I wouldn’t want my family to see me in that particular condition…I wouldn’t want my kid to see me like that.”

“When I was locked away in the halfway house in Queens, my family actually came because he invited them,”

she said, in reference to her now estranged husband.

“I’m like, ‘What are you doing!? I don’t want my family to see me in [a place with] no windows and no ceiling and no TV; laid up here, plotting. No! No!

And then my son visited and sees his mother…,”

she said trailing off and becoming tearful.

Williams said during her time in the sober house she still came to record her show and tried to “make people smile,” but she’d return with her “parent[s] sitting there wondering what is wrong with me.”

Although Williams admitted that her situation was different than Huffman’s because she “wasn’t in prison, but it was like prison. I needed that environment to plot.”

Williams has been back in her purple chair for her eleventh season. Back in January, she had previously taken a break from her show due to issues with Graves’ Disease. She returned to The Wendy Williams Show back on March 4 to a standing ovation, telling the audience, “Thank you so much for waiting for us.”

Since then, The Wendy Williams Show has been renewed for two more seasons, running through 2022.
