Recipes Your Baby Will Love

1. My First Beef Bolognese

A good way to introduce texture is to mix in small pasta shapes. Babies prefer an overall lumpy, soft texture rather than surprise lumps.

Prep: 10 minutes
Cook: 25 minutes
Best for: Babies between 6-9 months
Makes: 4 portions
Suitable for freezing

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, peeled and chopped
  • 1 stick celery, chopped
  • 1 carrot, peeled and diced
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 125g (4½ oz) lean minced beef
  • 400g can chopped tomatoes
  • ¼ tsp chopped fresh thyme
  • 2 tbsp pure, unsweetened apple juice
  • 2 tbsp grated Parmesan

METHOD

  1. Heat the oil in a saucepan. Add the vegetables and fry for 2 minutes.
  2. Add the garlic and the beef and brown the meat.
  3. Add the tomatoes and thyme, then cover and simmer for 20 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
  4. Blend for a few seconds so that everything is very finely choppped, then stir in the apple juice and Parmesan.
  5. Serve with small cooked pasta shapes.

2. Salmon, Tomato & Sweet Potato

It’s very important to introduce oily fish like salmon into your baby’s diet from 7 months. This is because oily fish is rich in essential fatty acids which are very important for your baby’s brain and visual development – a baby’s brain triples in size in the first year.
Prep: 2 minutes
Cook: 1 minute

Best for: Babies between 6-9 months

INGREDIENTS

  • 55g salmon fillet
  • A small knob of butter
  • 1 x 80g Organic Tomato, Sweet Potato & Cheese or Carrot and Lentil Sauce sachet

METHOD

  1. Put the salmon in a suitable dish for microwaving, dot with the butter, cover and cook for about 40 seconds or until cooked.
  2. Heat the sauce in a microwave or in a saucepan and blend with the salmon.
