Dad Finds Four Dead Babies In Freezer, Discovers Body Of 5th In Cooler Bag

Five dead babies were found in the home of a couple in south-west France.

Police made the macabre discovery after the father found the body of one newborn in a padded freezer bag at the house in Louchats, near Bordeaux. Officers then found the bodies of four more babies in a freezer in a utility room at the property. A source close to the investigation said the mother had apparently ‘given birth at home alone’ before killing her infants.

The 35-year-old woman had been taken to hospital for psychiatric and gynacological examinations, while the father, 40, had been taken into custody, the source said.

The source added: “At this stage it appears that the woman does have a history of mental illness.”

Autopsies will be performed on Friday to determine whether the babies were born alive, officials said. The couple also have two daughters aged 13 and 15, they added.
