5-Year-Old Wanders Out Of Home At Night While Parents Slept

Two court officers brought a 5-year-old boy to safety after they found him wandering the streets. The boy had left home during the night while his parents slept in a bid to visit his grandmother. The officers spotted the boy far away from home at about 5:40 a.m.

“We noticed a young little man by himself, so we slowed down the car to see if maybe there was a parent with him, but no such luck,” one of the officers said.

The child, wearing one of his shoes and one of his mother’s, explained he was on a mission.

“He kept saying ‘I want to go to Grandma’s house,’ ” said Glowacz, 29. “He was very determined to get to grandma’s, if he could find it.”

The pair brought the youngster to the nearby precinct stationhouse, where he was reunited with his parents, who by that point realized he was missing.

“The mother was very relieved,” Glowacz said. “The parents were sleeping and he got out of the house. They had woken up and realized the escape artist had left,” Reno said, noting the boy had done this once before.

“It was very good timing. You just feel a lot of relief,” said Reno, a mother of three. “It’s very fortunate that he had walked as far as he did without getting injured.”
