Guess Why This Mum Was Kicked Out Of Nike Store

A mum expressed fury on Facebook after she was kicked out of a Nike store for publicly breastfeeding her baby daughter. Staff reportedly told her it was ‘illegal.’

According to Mirror UK, Aleksandra Gotfrid said a manager asked her to leave while she was waiting for her son to try on some new trainers and feeding her one-year-old daughter at the sportswear shop.

Upset, she told friends on Facebook: “Holly molly! I have just been thrown out of a shop because I was breast feeding my baby. The shop’s workers think that breast feeding in public places is illegal, and said we are living in the 21st Century. I explained to him that my son is standing in a queue with my credit card and he could not use it without my presence and that my baby was crying and wanted to eat. I can not explain to my 1-y-o-daughter that it is forbidden to feed her in the shop. I am sitting here and I’m on the verge of crying.”

And pals quickly rallied around the mum.

Sophia Kornilova said: “What is wrong with these people?!!! He is from the Dark Ages.”

Another Facebook user, IriYef, wrote: “You should complain. This sort of behaviour is simply disgusting.”

A spokesman for Nike subsequently sent out an apology which read, “We respect the right of every woman to breast feed their babies in any place. We understand that the employee’s appeal to her made her feel uncomfortable and hurt her feelings and we are very sorry about that.”

What’s your take on breastfeeding publicly?

  • Not really idea but what can one do when a child is crying helplessly. I think Nike have to compensate her for that embarrassment.

  • Message.. Cover urself well n wear comfortable outfit dat won’t expose de whole breast whn feedin in public

  • I don’t see anything wrong in breastfeeding your baby in public. Nike was wrong to send her out and she deserves an apology.

  • Illegal kwa?Odikwa egwu.I don’t have any problem with someone breastfeeding publicly.Just cover up

  • Celebrities bare their boobs publicly on the red carpet and no one baths an eyelid, why will a breastfeeding mum be made to feel bad like she committed a crime?

  • I was once chased out of the women section which is at the very back of the church for breast feeding and I was well covered ooo surrounded by only women

  • There is nothing wrong if u do it discreetly.lf l’m in a public place n need to breastfeed my baby,l usually ask those in charge/staff for a comfortable place to avoid embarrassment.Ofcos nobody will tell me not to feed my baby esp when d baby is wailing
