5 Remedies For Your Baby’s Constipation

Dayo William

Has your baby being trying hard to do a poo? Are her bowel movements not frequent as well as being hard and dry, she could be experiencing constipation.

Causes of Constipation

Babies usually become constipated when they start solids as their bodies adapt to the new food.

A baby on formula milk is more likely to be constipated because formula is harder to digest than breast milk and makes poo hard and dry.

Your baby may not be drinking enough liquid or water which can lead to dehydration and change in bowel movements causing her poo to be hard.

To prevent constipation, give your baby more water in between meal times if on formula feeding. Make sure to always use the right amount of milk powder in proportion to the amount of water needed.

Remedies for Constipation

Try out some exercises with your baby. Lie her down on her back and gently raise her legs and move them in a forward position as if she is riding a bicycle. This tends to clear the “air ways” making bowel movement easier.
