Former South African President, Nelson Mandela’s Grandson Reportedly Nabbed For Raping 15-Year-Old Girl

Late Nelson Mandela’s grandson was reportedly arrested over the weekend for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl at a popular Johannesburg restaurant in Greenside last Friday.

According to the girl’s family spokesman, she had gone to the restaurant with friends and later went to the toilet where he allegedly grabbed and raped her.

He added that the girl lives with her mum but after the news reached the family, her dad tried to open a case without success because Winnie Madikizela-Mandela (the former South African president’s wife pictured below) asked the girl’s family to give her family time to deal with the issue.

He added: “Instead, Winnie’s bodyguard went to the family pretending to be a cop. The father was told there was no need to arrest the suspect but when the father asked to see his badge, he didn’t have one. It turned out he had been sent by Winnie.”

However, after a meeting at her home in Soweto, Madikizela-Mandela promised to hand her grandson to the police.

She also said she would call a press briefing. However, none of that happened.

The family spokesman said the girl’s family was angered by the way they were treated by the police and the Mandelas.

“Just because they have a famous surname, they think they can get away with crime. Children can’t just be raped and then everything is alright. The girl is young and doesn’t even drink,” he said.

Gauteng police spokesman Brigadier Mashadi Selepe said a case of rape was opened on 14 August.

“A suspect, who can’t be named before he appears in court, will be in the Joburg Regional Court today. The police are investigating,” he said.
