See What Hearing New Born Baby’s Cry Did For This Mum

A new born baby’s cry brought her mum, Shelly Cawley, who slipped into a coma after undergoing a C-section in a North Carolina Hospital, back to life.

Doctors and her family had almost given up when a nurse, Ashley Manus, suggested putting mother and daughter skin-to-skin.

She told People: “I was hoping somewhere deep down, Shelly was still there and could feel her baby, hear her baby and her mother’s instincts would come out and she would realize, ‘This is where I need to be.'”

Fortunately, her baby’s touch and subsequent cry had amazing effects, as Manus added: “We could see a spike in her vitals on the monitor. We knew that somewhere in there she was hearing her baby. Rylan saved her mom’s life. It’s a complete miracle.”

Shelly’s husband added: “It was the crying that got Shelly going again, got her fighting again. I got my wife back.”

Shelly woke up a week later, met her daughter, and luckily, doctors found she had not suffered any lasting health issues.

On finally meeting her daughter, Shelly told The Post“It was a weird feeling — like I was between a dream and reality. But I do remember as clear as day looking at her face, how beautiful she was. I don’t think I knew at the time I had been asleep for a week. But it was my first time meeting my daughter. I was so overwhelmed.”
