Military Mums Take Photos While Nursing Their Babies To Support Breastfeeding

Tara Ruby, a mum, photographer and soldier took a photo of 10 female soldiers breastfeeding to show how it is to be a mum in the military as well as how women can incredibly combine motherhood and military service at the same time.

Ruby who served in the Air force said the idea of the photo pooped up when news of plans to create nursing room for military mums based in Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas.

According to Huffingtonpost, Ruby stated it was difficult to breastfeed during her time but is happy that things are getting better. When she was given the go ahead from base officials, Ruby asked other army mums to join her and she got responses from ten women.

Sharing the photo on Facebook, Ruby said: “Today I believe we made history. To my knowledge a group photo to show support of active duty military mummies nursing their littles has never been done.

Ruby added: “I was active duty a long time ago when support for breastfeeding mums wasn’t even an option or a consideration. We have come so far. Breastfeeding their babies doesn’t make them less of a soldier, I believe it makes them a better one.Juggling the tasks and expectations of a soldier, plus providing for their own in the best way they possibly can, makes these ladies even stronger for it. I want to say thank you to everyone that saw my vision, and helped us in succeeding in making it come true. I am 100% for ‪#‎normalisebreastfeeding‬.”
