Meet Baby Born With Two Tubes Instead Of A Nose

A baby has been born with two tubes instead of a nose due to a rare genetic condition known as Patau syndrome, which happens once in every 10,000 to 15,000 births.

The boy named Baby Angelito meaning little angel by his parents, was born at the hospital of Caleta, in the city of Chimbote, in the west Peruvian province of Santa.

According to the Mirror, the baby has been transferred from his home in Nuevo Chimbote to the Hospital del Nino in the capital Lima where he will need to undergo an operation to treat his malformation and give him a normal nose.

The parents of the boy, mum Lorena Rodriguez Zavaleta and his dad whose name was not given have been with their son since his birth.

Speaking on the issue, Paediatrician Jose Castillo said the strange deformity was a very rare disorder called Patau syndrome, which happens once in every 10,000 to 15,000 births but stated the baby is stable and keeping down the food he is being given and that his heart and respiratory system are also working fine.

According to the hospital’s neonatal care boss Carlos Arrestegui Ramos, Angelito for now has no difficulty in breathing but will require plastic surgery. He also stated that further tests would be needed to determine how else the boy’s mutation had affected his body.

To help and assist the parents as Angelito receives treatment, The mayor of the Nuevo Chimbote district in Lima, Valentin Fernandez, has presented the young parents with a gift of nappies, milk and money to cover their stay in the capital.
