Lagos State Government Warns Residents Against Consumption of Exhumed Poultry Now in Circulation
The Lagos State Government has warned the public against consuming exhumed imported poultry produce such as chicken and turkey meat currently being sold to unsuspecting buyers in the state.
The state’s Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr. Toyin Suarau, said the poultry produce were seized and destroyed by the Nigeria Customs Service in Badagry but some people later exhumed it for sale. He warned that they are poisonous and could lead to death if consumed.
He also noted that the imported poultry produce were preserved with chemicals like formalin which is poisonous, and kills slowly.
