See Why Mum & Daughter Are in Hot Legal Battle

A former banker, Lady Joyce Dike Udensi Ifegwu is praying the Federal High Court in Lagos to determine whether the Police can investigate an allegation of forged marriage certificate against her for a second time, reports The Guardian.

The former chairman of defunct Citizens International Bank Limited wants the court to determine whether the Police are still entitled to investigate her yet again, after men and officers of the Nigerian Police Force in zone 2 command headquarters, Onikan, Lagos, had previously concluded investigation of the allegations.

One Mrs Nnenna Enweliku, nee Dike Udensi, the daughter of the applicant had written a petition against her mother to the Assistant Inspector General of Police in Lagos on 27 January 2014 alleging that her mother had not been legally married to her father and that her mum, Dike Udensi Ifegwu, had presented a forged marriage certificate for the purpose of getting the letter of administration for the estate of her late father, Lord Chief Dike Udensi Ifegwu.

She however was not happy with the outcome of the investigation by the police in Lagos; so she wrote a second one to the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Criminal Investigation Department in Abuja, detailing the manner and nature of the forgery. As a result, fresh investigation into the allegation was launched by the Police, following which the applicant filed the suit seeking to halt a possible arraignment by the Police on the same matter.
