VERDICT! Cult Leader Who Held Daughter, Other Women Imprisoned and Raped Them For Over 30Years Found Guilty

A Maoist cult leader who kept his secret daughter imprisoned for 30 years while repeatedly raping two of his ‘disciples’ faces the prospect of dying in jail after being found guilty of a string of offences, Daily Mail reports.

74-year-old Aravindan Balakrishnan, known as Comrade Bala, hid his daughter away in an extreme Left-wing commune for three decades, leaving her so removed from the world that she did not know how to cross the road or use keys when she finally escaped. In a 30-year reign of terror, he also groomed and brainwashed two of his followers by convincing them he was a ‘God’. He then subjected them to horrific sexual assaults to ‘purify them’ and ‘scrub them clean of the bourgeois culture’.
However, the Maoist, who conceived his daughter with one of his acolytes but never revealed her true parentage, was recently found guilty of 14 charges, including rape, sexual assault and false imprisonment, against three victims.
It came after a three-week trial in which bizarre details of life inside the south London communist household were exposed – mainly through the meticulously-kept diaries which Balakrishnan forced his followers to write on a daily basis. Balakrishnan had up to 8 women living with him at times, and they were loyal to him, obeying every word that came out of his mouth. The man was lord and made them believe he had a supernatural power just like God. He regularly raped the women. The rape case came to light when police entered the home and found three women locked inside.
Police freed the women who were between 57 and 69 years old, along with the suspect’s 30-year-old daughter.

It was also revealed that Balakrishnan homeschooled his daughter and did not allow her to have any friends or go out of the house. She was not allowed to look out the window. The girl revealed that her sadist father brainwashed her and numerous other women into believing that a monster named Jackie would attack and kill them if they ever disobey him.
As he was convicted of the charges, one of his most devoted followers, former cult member Josie Herivale, who said she regrets raising the alarm about the cult, shouted from the public gallery: ‘You’re sending an innocent man to prison, shame on you.’

Meanwhile, his daughter – who said she was ‘overwhelmed with relief’ that ‘justice has been done’ – said she had forgiven her father because ‘being angry is no way to live’.

The jury found him guilty of six counts of indecent assault, four counts of rape and two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm after six hours of deliberation.

He showed no emotion as he was further convicted of false imprisonment and ill-treatment of a child under the age of 16 in relation to his daughter. He was cleared of a charge of indecent assault and a charge of causing actual bodily harm.
Judge Deborah Taylor, who has remanded him in custody until his 29 January sentencing, said Balakrishnan faces a ‘substantial custodial sentence’
