Toddler Dies In The Most Unexpected Way While Playing With Older Brother

A toddler died in a freak accident after becoming trapped down the back of the family sofa while playing with his older brother, Daily Mail reports.

Sixteen-month old Jacob Moore, from Sale, Greater Manchester, is believed to have been climbing along the top of the seats when he fell down the back of the sofa. He became trapped against the wall by his chin, and as he struggled for breath he suffered a cardiac arrest.

Like every other mum, the toddler’s Mum, Victoria Moore, 37,  who was in the kitchen carrying out household chores, was alerted by Jacob’s three year old brother Isaac who ran from the living room crying for help. Jacob was rushed to hospital in a critical condition but he died ten days later after his family agreed to let doctors switch off his life support machine.

Jacob’s father Simon, 42, a music tutor, told the Stockport hearing: ‘In the lounge there is a two seater and three seater sofa placed against the wall. In the early evening of August 11 I was out but my wife was with Jacob and our other son.

‘They were playing with toys in the family room. Victoria went into the kitchen to finish of what she needed to do, the door was open and our son who is three tries to get her attention. She went to see what he wanted and could see that Jacob was trapped between the wall and the back of the sofa and his chin was trapped. He looked very grey and very ill. She tried helping and a builder heard her screaming. The emergency services were called and he was taken to hospital. Doctors told us very quickly that his chances of survival was very poor.’
