In sheer contrast to her parents who recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary and renewed their vows, Reverend Mpho Tutu, has reportedly married her longtime female partner, Professor Marceline Furth.

According to reports, she exchanged vows in a small private ceremony in Oegstgeest, a town and municipality in the province of South Holland in western Netherlands on Wednesday, January 30th, and their wedding will be celebrated in Cape Town in May.

Canon Tutu, an ordained Episcopal priest, is the youngest daughter of the former South African Archbishop and his wife, Leah. She has two daughters, Nyaniso and Onalenna, from her first marriage to Joseph Burris whom she lived with in Virginia.

Speaking on the rights of gay people around the world, her father previously said,

“I would refuse to go to a homophobic heaven. No, I would say sorry, I mean I would much rather go to the other place. I would not worship a God who is homophobic and that is how deeply I feel about this. I am as passionate about this campaign as I ever was about apartheid. For me, it is at the same level.”
