54-Year-Old Mum Carries & Delivers Daughter’s Baby

A 54-year-old woman, Tracey Thompson, gave birth to her granddaughter on Wednesday afternoon after serving as a surrogate for her daughter and her husband who turned to fertility treatments after trying to conceive for three years.

Her daughter, Kelley McKissack, 28, said:

“My husband and I tried for a baby for three years. After numerous failed attempts we moved over to infertility treatment, which did turn into pregnancies but all turned into miscarriages. We ran a ton of tests and couldn’t figure out why it was happening, and my lovely mom offered to give me the greatest gift I could ever have in my life.”

The couple’s final round of in-vitro fertilization reportedly left them with four embryos, and Thompson, already seven years past menopause, successfully became pregnant in April. She underwent a series of medical treatments, including hormone therapy, to allow her body to carry a baby once again.

She welcomed the baby girl, who weighed 6-pound, 11-ounce, at 3:02 p.m. on Jan. 6 via Caesarian section. She has been named Kelcey – a combination of “Tracey” and “Kelley.”

Gushing about it all, Thompson said, “It is such a blessing that I can do this for my daughter.”

Her daughter added:

“She’s a special kind of woman. It takes a special woman to do that. She’s strong. I don’t think many people could do what she did with all she had to go through to get there. She makes it sound easier than it was, I think.”
