Mum Of Football Star, Dele Alli, Made the Tough Decision To Give Him Up For Adoption So ‘He Could Fulfil His Dreams’

Bamidele Jermaine ‘Dele’ Alli’s mother, 52-year-old Denise Alli, has revealed she chose to give the England and Tottenham star away to give him the best chance of fulfilling his dream of becoming a footballer, Daily Mail reports.

The 19-year-old midfielder’s mum allegedly handed him over to adoptive parents six years ago while she was battling alcoholism and the threat of social services taking her children away. However, Denise reportedly insists that seeing her son’s career flourish tells her she made the right decision. She said,

‘I had to let him go to give him a better future. Emotionally, it was heartbreaking but it was the right thing to do. I had a serious drink problem triggered by my unhappy childhood. Social Services visited me after complaints from my neighbours about how I was raising my children but my kids were never taken away.
It was my decision to let Dele live with another family. I knew that was the only way he could fulfil his dream of becoming a professional footballer.’

Denise admitted that she suffered from a severe booze addiction, revealing that she was “hooked” on vodka, beer or anything she could get her hands on.She also says it was only right to get Dele off the streets and into a safer environment.

Although Alli was never formally adopted, he lived full-time with the family of fellow footballer Harry Hickford, now 20, six miles away. Denise revealed that the move to Cosgrove moved him away from the children on the streets of his old estate; she says his old estate friends were regularly “smoking, arguing and robbing”.
