A bitter man in Ghana identified as Philip Oppong allegedly poured acid on his 37-year-old lover’s face last Friday, leaving her face and parts of her body totally disfigured. The woman, Abena Konadu, said to be a trader, had threatened to end their relationship.

According to Daily Guide, Abena Konadu used to be in a relationship with a different man in the area and had children with him. However, the relationship went sour following some problems and they parted ways.

Philip later proposed to Abena and the two reportedly started dating. However, owing to the severe beatings she received at the least provocation, she threatened to leave and reconcile with her former boyfriend on December 24. This was said to have led to the insecure man’s cruel action last Friday.

Narrating her ordeal, Abena said she had woke up at about 3am and was preparing to cook when she sighted him approaching her, holding a container.

She said he called her but she ignored him, and afterwards, he got closer and emptied the content of the container on her saying, “You say you can’t stay with me. I have made you blind and no one can marry you.”

Her shout for help woke her younger brother up and he rushed her to the hospital.

Phillip who fled the scene of his crime immediately is still at large.
