Baby Girl Born Same Day as Her Mum & Grandma

An Arizona mum of four, Aimee Hernando and her mum, Tammy Pierce, got the perfect 33rd and 56th birthday surprise on January 18th as Aimee defied her expected date of delivery and welcomed a new addition to her family. The baby girl, initially expected to arrive by the end of January, has been named Miracle Joy.

An elated Hernando told ABC News she wished her baby would also be born on the 18th but the chance of this happening was 1 in 133,225, according to Keith Devlin, a mathematician at Stanford University. She said,

“Then when I went into labor I just kept thinking ‘Oh my goodness! Is this really happening? And it happened. My mom’s birth weight was 6 pounds 10 ounces, mine was 6 pounds 9 ounces, and Miracle’s was 6 pounds 8 ounces. We just thought that was so cool!”

Miracle Joy’s three older siblings are aged 11, 8, and 14 months old. Hernando and her husband adopted the first two following their initial fertility struggle.
