Heartbroken South African Mum Recounts How Newborn Baby Was Stolen

A 26-year-old South African mum, Andile Mngadi, welcomed her baby last week Sunday. Her joy was however cut short on Wednesday when an unknown woman stole the baby.

The heartbroken mum told Daily Sun:

“I went for a check-up at Charlotte Maxeke Hospital when a woman who looked heavily pregnant approached me and said she was bored sitting at home with her boyfriend. She asked if she could go with me.

The woman, who looked like she was in her mid 20s, came to my home in the Joburg CBD. I had people over helping me as I was moving to Meadowlands in Soweto.”

She added that when they arrived at home, the woman sat on her bed with the baby, Siphesihle, while she helped a bakkie driver load her things on the vehicle. She continued,

“I went back inside to fetch my nappy bag. And the woman was gone with my daughter! I drove around looking for her but she was nowhere to be found.”

She said she immediately reported the case to Joburg Central Police Station where a search is still on to track the woman.

“I am praying to God that I get my daughter back unharmed,” she said.
