See Why Teacher Beheaded Proprietor’s Granddaughter in Ogun

A teacher in a private school near Ijebu-Ife in Ogun State, Edet Umoren, allegedly beheaded Precious Adedeji, a 10-year-old pupil said to be the proprietor’s granddaughter on Thursday. He also allegedly cut off the girl’s right hand after seizing and dragging her into a nearby bush.

Punch gathered that Umoren allegedly killed the pupil because the proprietor, Pastor Joseph Olitoye, owed him N8, 000 – his salaries for January and February.

The assailant, also said to be the treasurer of the school proprietor’s church, was alleged to have seized Adedeji when she and her friend, Patricia, were returning to the school from where they had gone to buy biscuit.

Patricia reportedly escaped from the scene and ran back to the school premises to inform the proprietor of the attack by “Uncle Edet.”

The proprietor said Umoren left two short notes at the scene of the crime, claiming that he killed the girl because of his  failure to pay his salaries. He added that he had pleaded with Umoren to exercise patience till the end of this week to enable him to pay the N8, 000 before the unfortunate incident.

He also alleged that the assailant has stolen over N250,000 from his church’s fund.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said Umoren has been arrested and investigation is ongoing.
