Talk Show Host, Aisha Tyler Cries As She Talks Impending Divorce After 23 Years of Marriage

Last week, news broke that talk show host and voice over actress, Aisha Tyler and her hubby of 23 years, Jeff Tietjens, are getting a divorce. According to Dailymail, the divorce was filed by Tietjens, who cited irreconcilable differences.

The pretty 45-year-old TV personality opened up for the first time about the impending divorce on her show ‘The Talk’ yesterday, 18th of April. Aisha broke down in tears as she reaffirmed her love for her estranged hubby, despite their separation.

She said, ”Even though we’re separating, all I want for him is joy and fulfillment in whatever he chooses to do in his life next. And whatever I can do to help him do that, I want to do it. He’s a wonderful person. He’s been my best friend for almost my entire life. I’ll always, always love him.”

She added,

“My husband and I are separating… that’s a very painful thing to go through and it’s also a really painful thing to go through in public. I’m sure you can imagine it’s pretty frustrating to have people talking about your private life who don’t know anything about it and speculating and you know saying lots of crazy stuff but I wanted to say this…my husband and I met when I was a teenager and I’ve been with him for more than half of my adult life… it’s very hard when you love someone very much to also start to realize that maybe you want different things for your lives…

I don’t, not in any way see this relationship as a failure. We loved each other passionately and we lived life fully and we’re trying to let each other go in the kindest way we possibly can. That’s what I’m going to say about the relationship and the rest of it is none of your damn business!”

Tyler also spoke about their inability to conceive, but it was unclear if that played a role in their separation.
During her tearful admission, she revealed they tried In Vitro Fertilization after getting to know she has a tortuous fallopian tube.

She said of their struggle with IVF, ‘After 40 your chances of getting pregnant are between two and eight percent, and in my particular case they were less than five percent.’

Tyler and Tietjens got married in May 1992 after being college lovebirds at Dartmouth College in Hanover and separated in January 2015. Tietjens filed for divorce earlier this month in L.A Superior Court.
